S.B. Public Library System Puts On Scrabble Night Fundraiser; United Cerebral Palsy Work Group Hosts Celebration Fundraiser
Fan of anagrams? Attend this week’s 5th Annual Scrabble Night for Literacy, a fundraiser for the S.B. Public Library System’s many local literacy programs. Scrabble players of all levels are invited for the evening of games, food, and prizes. The event will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. this Friday, September 24, at the S.B. Central Library’s Faulkner Gallery (40 E. Anapamu St.). Tickets are $20-$25; parent/child teams wishing to play as a single contestant pay only for a single admission. Call 564-5619 for more info.
This Wednesday, September 29, the United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) Work Inc. group will host A Celebration of the Human Spirit, an audio-visual presentation honoring organizations in S.B. and Ventura counties that, with the help of UCP Work Inc. funding, offer unique services for cerebral palsy patient care, support, and medical research. The event will also feature a performance by Oregon-based folk/rock group The Lower 48. The show starts at 7 p.m. at the Marjorie Luke Theatre (721 E. Cota St.); tickets are $10.
