Sheriff Releases Video Footage of I.V. Foot Patrol Arson Attack
FBI Offers $5,000 Reward for Arrest and Conviction of Person Responsible
The Santa Barbara Sheriff’s office has released video footage that shows an unidentified person hurling two Molotov cocktails at the Isla Vista Foot Patrol headquarters last month. The November 15 attack, which occurred at around 7:45 p.m., singed the outside of the Trigo Road building and broke the windshield of an unoccupied patrol car. There was no major damage, and no one was injured in the incident.
A witness reported seeing a lone person, dressed in all black, throw the homemade firebombs before running south away from the scene. The release of the video coincides with the announcement that the FBI has offered a $5,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.
According to a Sheriff’s spokesperson, three separate pieces of graffiti were discovered November 16 on and around Snidecor Hall on UCSB’s campus, which is around 500 yards from the site of the attack. “The graffiti contains references to the attack on IVFP and includes what appears to be the moniker ‘Crazy Irish,’” the spokesperson said.
Persons who witnessed the incident or have information that may be helpful to the investigation are urged to call either the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s office at (805) 681-4100, the Sheriff’s Anonymous Tip Line at (805) 681-4171, or the FBI at (805) 642-3995.
