Area Agencies Declare High Fire Season
This winter’s record-breaking heat and the drought have prompted area fire agencies — Santa Barbara and Ventura counties, CalFire San Luis Obispo and Monterey, and the Los Padres National Forest — to declare high fire season as of 4/13. In the wildland areas, 100 feet of defensible space around structures, spark arrestors on gas engines, and permits for grinding and cutting are required.
