The Author/Mediator Discusses His Book Elusive Peace
“If we truly desire peace in our world, our leaders and their envoys must add an entirely new set of skills and knowledge to their repertoire,” writes Douglas Noll in the introduction to his book Elusive Peace: How Modern Diplomatic Strategies Could Better Resolve World Conflicts. Noll is a former trial lawyer who quit his profession to focus on a different approach to conflict resolution. He went back to school, earning a master’s degree in peacemaking and conflict studies, and now works as a mediator, trainer, and national speaker. On Tuesday, January 24, Noll will discuss “the dynamics of peace, how peace can be achieved, and why peace is so elusive” in a free lecture open to the public at 6 p.m. at S.B. Charter School (Goleta Valley Junior High School, 6100 Stow Canyon Rd.).
