Not Fort Wayne Here

My wife and I live in Seattle and have a second home outside Santa Barbara.

From our first visits on, the old terminal was a major part of the charm. It was airy, friendly, and a bit funky. Much like Santa Barbara, actually. A fitting portal to a unique city.

The new building is enclosed, impersonal, and without charm – something to be endured. The old restaurant had light, air, and space – the new restaurant has none of these things. I suppose it is more “efficient,” but it might as well be in Fort Wayne or some other place where the weather is either too hot or too cold.

Santa Barbara has done so much to preserve its special character. The new terminal seems a big mistake.
