Alleged Stabbers in Court
While three juveniles and one adult pled not guilty on 7/16 to murder and conspiracy to commit murder, attorneys were prepping for the trial of Ricardo Juarez, a now-15-year-old charged with the murder of 15-year-old Luis Angel Linares in March 2007. Jury selection is underway for the trial, which attorneys have indicated is expected to last through the end of October. Linares was stabbed to death during a gang brawl at the intersection of State and Carrillo streets. The latest stabbing murder, this time of 15-year-old Emmanuel Roldan, occurred at the beach moments before the Fourth of July fireworks fired off. Charged with murder are the victim’s 17-year-old brother David Roldan, 15-year-olds Daniel Cervantes and Victor Arroyo, and 21-year-old Miguel Marquez. Meanwhile, four men charged with allegedly murdering Lorenzo Carachure, a 16-year-old who was fatally stabbed on San Pascual Street in July 2007, are awaiting their next appearance in court on July 8, when a judge will determine whether the case should head to trial.
