UCSB Teacher Program Graduates Win Big Awards

Two 2013 graduates of the UCSB teacher credentialing program won prestigious STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) fellowships from the Knowles Science Teaching Foundation that will provide resources for five years. Michelle Leber, who holds a PhD in physics from the University of Washington as well as her newly minted master’s in education, will teach global science and physics at Oak Park High School in Oak Park, California. Justine Ophanon, who studied aquatic biology as an undergrad at UCSB, will start her teaching career at Seaside High School in Seaside.
