Rancheros Visitadores to Wear Pink in Support of Breast Cancer
2013 "Tough Enough to Wear Pink” Ride Has Already Raised Nearly $60,000!
They will once again partner with Wrangler and the “Tough Enough to Wear Pink Foundation,” to support local breast cancer awareness and programs. Their ride will kick-off with a parade of pink through the streets of Solvang to old Mission Santa Ines, where community members will gather to witness a blessing on the riders and a check presentation to the Cancer Center of Santa Barbara with Sansum Clinic.
The Rancheros’ Tough Enough to Wear Pink parade is set for May 4, 2013. Since announcing their intentions to ride for the cure a few months ago, the Rancheros have already raised nearly $60,000 for the cause. Community members are encouraged to save the date for this exciting occasion!
Last year the Ranchero’s raised over $64,000, 100% of which was directed to support breast cancer programs and patients at the Cancer Center including: clinical research, wellness classes and programs, hereditary cancer risk counseling, nurse navigation, and lymphedema education and screening. These services are available to all breast cancer patients in the Santa Barbara community, regardless of where they receive treatment or their ability to pay.
“Last year’s ride was the first to raise money for any purpose, and we truly feel that we found a cause that is not only close to many of the riders, but is also vitally important to the community we return to year after year,” explains Ranchero Steve Beneto. “We expect to surpass the $64,000 we raised last year, and couldn’t be more excited to continue our support of the Cancer Center and their outstanding care of breast cancer patients and their families.”
“We were deeply honored by Rancheros’ outstanding support in 2012,” explains Rick Scott, Vice President of Oncology Services at the Cancer Center, “and we look forward to another successful partnership in 2013. The programs supported by the ride facilitate our whole-person approach to cancer care, ensuring that all aspects of the patient’s physical, mental, and psychological needs are tended to throughout treatment, recovery, and survivorship.”
