Reading On The Río Beni
READING ON THE RÍO BENI: For the ninth year in a row, a crew of Santa Barbara Middle School kids and their supporters ventured into the Bolivian Amazon to raise money and do some hands-on work in support of the Fundación Salud Río Beni, the health organization founded more than a decade ago by the late Dr. Lou Netzer.
Led by brothers Jim and Christopher Brady, the 14 members of this year’s El Puente (or “The Bridge”) group traveled 90 miles by boat down the Beni and Tuichi rivers, then walked for 20 miles before working on several dozen BioSand water filters in the community of Torewa. Here, they are reading The Indy on the shores of Lake Chalalan in the Madidi National Park. See edsafaris.com and netzerbrady.org for more info.
