Susan Rose Endorses Susan Jordan
I urge you to vote for Susan Jordan for State Assembly.
I am writing to express my unequivocal support for Susan Jordan for the 35th Assembly District. Susan is a woman of courage and intelligence. She is far and away the best candidate for the job.
I have known Susan Jordan for ten years and have found her to be smart, experienced, and committed to making a difference on issues affecting our community and California. Susan will bring to the State Assembly a life time of experience as a parent, businesswoman, non-profit executive director, community voice and social and environmental activist.
What has impressed me most about Susan is her willingness to stand up against opponents and to fight for what she believes in even when it means disagreeing with colleagues and friends. She has a core set of values and principles and stays true to them.
As a parent, Susan sent her son to public schools and experienced first hand the need to fix our California educational system. As a business woman, she understands the desperate state of our economy and will make creating jobs a priority. In her early professional life she worked for women’s health organizations and continues to this day to fight for gender equity on all fronts for women.
In 2002, I appointed Susan to represent the second district on the Santa Barbara County Planning Commission because she understood both the land use and coastal issues affecting our community. During her 4 years there, she brought a larger point of view to the Commission because of her work as a statewide coastal advocate and as chair successfully built relationships with other members of the Commission.
Susan’s track record as an environmentalist cannot be surpassed. Since forming The California Coastal Protection Network, she has defeated an LNG plant off the Oxnard coast and a toll road planned through environmentally sensitive areas in Orange County. Most recently, she has been an ardent opponent of the PXP oil drilling project proposed off shore for Santa Barbara County. Her voice has been consistent and strong and I know she will continue to fight against all oil drilling off our coastal areas.
Sacramento needs legislators like Susan Jordan. Susan understands how tough it is to advance public policy and has gained endorsements from many officials already in office. This will help her move quickly and effectively to make a difference for the 35th Assembly District.—Susan Rose
