Pastor Pleads No Contest to DUI, Child Cruelty

Gerald Torres, charged with DUI and child cruelty after crashing his motorcycle and injuring his son in May, pleaded no contest to the counts on Wednesday. Torres, 43, and his 8-year-old son were ejected from his Yamaha motorcycle after it slammed into a traffic sign and fence near Casitas Pass Road. Both were wearing helmets. Torres sustained head injuries and his son suffered minor abrasions to his leg.

A pastor at Reality, an area Christian ministry, Torres is required to serve four years of probation, pay restitution, attend diversionary courses, attend parenting classes, abstain from alcohol for the duration of his probation, and install Breathalyzer devices in his vehicles, according to deputy district attorney Justin Greene, who prosecuted the case.
