White Fire Not Growing, But Smoke On the Way

There has not been a lot of movement from the White Fire in the Los Padres National Forest this morning or early afternoon, according to officials, though it continues to burn actively among interior islands of brush.

Because of variable winds out of the northeast, smoke will be visible from Santa Barbara, Forest Service officials said.

The total acreage of the fire sits at more than 1,800 acres and is 10 percent contained, though the containment figure is expected to jump this evening.

Highway 154 is open in both directions.
