The season’s first real rainmaker rolled through Santa Barbara County this past weekend (November 17 and 18), dropping more than an inch of rain in many spots.

Bringing blustery south winds and on-again, off-again rain showers from Thursday afternoon until Sunday, the storm delivered nearly 1.7 inches of rain to downtown Santa Barbara, 0.76 inches in Lompoc, just under half an inch in the Santa Ynez Valley, and 2.95 inches on Santa Marcos Pass.

At this early point in the rain season, the greater Santa Barbara area, according to county data, is at roughly 55 percent of its average rainfall-to-date level.
