Contract Awarded For New Jail Kitchen Design

A March 2013 study examined code deficiencies and infrastructure issues at the Santa Barbara County Jail kitchen, and a nearly $2 million project was put into motion to make the necessary fixes and improvements. On 10/15, the Board of Supervisors unanimously approved contracting with AECOM to oversee the design phase of the project, agreeing to pay no more than $150,000 for the work. It’s hoped the design phase will be completed in early 2014; construction will take around six months once a contract is awarded.
