Pedestrian Killed on Hollister Avenue
60-Year-Old Struck by Car on September 11
A 60-year old pedestrian was struck and killed by a car while crossing Hollister Avenue at 8:45 p.m. the night of September 11.
According to California Highway Patrol officials, the male victim was in the roadway when he was struck by a motorist driving west on Hollister just west of Arboleda Road. The victim was rushed to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The motorist, who was unharmed, has been identified as 57-year-old Juan Pablo Salinas. Salinas was not arrested, as the investigating CHP officer determined alcohol was not a factor in his role in the collision. The case remains under investigation.
