The Independent hosted a community forum at The Unitarian Society’s Parish Hall to hear from the five of the candidates running for the Santa Barbara Unified School District. The event, moderated by reporters Callie Fausey and Ryan P. Cruz, featured Area 3 candidates Bill Banning, Phyliss Cohen and Chris Wichowski; Area 2 candidate Sunita Beall; and Area 3 candidate Celeste Kafri.
Moderators Callie Fausey and Ryan P. Cruz took turns asking questions, allowing each candidate an opportunity to respond. The forum concluded with two-minute closing statements. The event was filmed and livestreamed by DP News, Dos Pueblos High School’s Broadcast News Program.
