It was peace, love, and guacamole season once again at the annual California Avocado Festival last weekend. From Friday, October 4, through Sunday, October 6, people flocked to Carpinteria to enjoy performances by 60 bands (!), plus 65 arts and crafts, commercial, and food vendors.

In one of the most contested of the event contests, Camarillo couple Grace and Nicholas Rogers won the Guacamole Contest using a recipe that has Nabal avocados from Grace’s family’s orchard.

Independent photographer Ingrid Bostrom — a Carpinteria local herself — was not only there to catch all of these lovely moments, but she also had the honor of being part of an esteemed panel of Guacamole Contest judges. Others included: Fred Brander, Lt. Rich Brittingham, Gregg Carty, Lyn Fairly, Tracy Lehr, George Leis, Alan Parsons, Nirasha Rodriguez, and Brendan Smith.

Proceeds from the festival went to the Carpinteria Education Foundation and the Future Farmers of America. For information on future festivals, visit avofest.org.
