Join us for a special screening of the locally produced feature film The Bet on November 3 at 6 PM at the historic Alcazar Theatre, located at 4916 Carpinteria Ave, Carpinteria, CA. Tickets are priced at $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Seniors over 60 and children under 17 are only $9 (advance sales only).

The Bet is a story of teenage Addison (Scott Hagood), Libby his single mother (Portia Thomas), and Collier her aging father (Tim Whitcomb), who are all searching for love. In a misguided but well-meaning attempt to encourage his grandson to take more chances, the grandfather enters a wager with the teen to see who can “score” with a woman first. This story both pulls at your heart strings and makes you laugh.

The Bet was the first feature film produced by the local non-profit Community Film Studio Santa Barbara (CFSSB). It premiered in 2013 at the Arlington Theater in Santa Barbara and went on to win Best Feature Film at the La Femme Film Festival later that year. The film was an all-volunteer community effort, featuring dozens of first-time filmmakers and actors paired with industry veterans. It was filmed throughout the Santa Barbara area.

The film was written by Annie J. Dahlgren and Christina Eliason and directed by General Hospital star Finola Hughes. It stars Scott Hagood, local actor Tim Whitcomb, and Portia Thomas.

There will be a Q&A with the filmmakers immediately following the screening. Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate this locally produced film in a unique and charming venue. Secure your tickets now and enjoy a very special night at the Alcazar Theatre!
