SPECIAL PROGRAM ANNOUNCEMENT — VENUE CHANGE
February 2, 2024– Due to the recent water damage at The Granada Theatre, The Santa Barbara Symphony has moved its two February concerts to the Lobero Theatre—both to be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024—at 3:00 pm and 7:30 pm. The Lobero is located at 33 E. Canon Perdido St. in Santa Barbara.
Due to the reduced capacity of the venue, and the popularity of the performances, no additional tickets will be sold. All current ticket holders are being requested to reconfirm their attendance so they may be issued a ticket for the concerts at the Lobero. Instructions to do so have been sent by email to ticket holders.
Serenade for Romance: Valentine’s Week! – This strings-forward program is certain to bring out your inner romantic. Elgar’s Serenade for Strings is a beautiful and intimate work full of rich harmonies and delicate textures that create a sense of intimacy and warmth. Dvořák’s expressive, Slavic-inspired melodies that make the most of the violín’s lyricism and showcase the impeccable technique of celebrated guest violinist Sirena Huang will feel like a love letter to the violín. Iconoclast French composer Louise Farrenc’s Symphony No. 3 in G in minor, considered almost heretical for its time, brings the program full circle.
