The UCSB Blum Center Team is currently promoting the official release of our People’s Guide to UCSB’s Housing Crisis, available as both an interactive website and a PDF, by hosting a forum here on campus.
This People’s Guide is a resource made by students, for students, and discusses the main factors affecting the lack of available and affordable campus housing, including the current state of the crisis, the demise of Munger Hall, and what can be done to address this critical issue at UCSB. We are very concerned that UCSB has had over a decade to construct housing per the requirements of the 2010 Long Range Development Plan (LRDP) with little to show for it.
Our upcoming student-led forum will be held on Thursday 2/22, from 5-7pm in the UCSB UCEN Flying A Studios room.
The forum will include a presentation of the People’s Guide, a panel with representatives from various student and campus organizations, including Youth Bridge Housing, Isla Vista Tenants Union, UAW 2865, UCSB Campus Democrats, and El Congreso, and will conclude with an open discussion that allows the audience to participate and ask questions.
