Embodiment and Yoga are family. One cannot separate body, mind, or spirit. To explore the body/mind is to deepen our view of ourselves. In this way every moment of our life is practice. We will use anatomy, kinesiology, and physiology to expand our ability to bring consciousness to the body’s function and expression. Each session will be a mixture of information, imagery, and movement towards bringing our focus to the subtle body.
An understanding of specific systems of the body/mind: the bones and muscles, the nerves and the brain, the organs, fluids, and glands will help people to understand their own particular strengths and weaknesses and diagnose and offer assistance to their students. A focus on the need for joint integrity in the Asanas and allowing the skeletal/muscular/ nervous system to yield into its own structure so that the spiral forces inherent in the poses can work into the organs.
The internal premise of my teaching is that I am reminding you of something you already know. Anatomical facts are used as guideposts to sensing and imagining what’s going on in there. We develop skills that lead to a more transparent and useful connection between body and mind.
Because of the arc of the course, individual drop ins will not be possible, and the series must be purchased as a whole.
