Part concert, part story-telling, part testament of longing, part celebration of the wonder of life. Internationally acclaimed story-teller Stephen Jenkinson and blues troubadour Gregory Hoskins weave together music and word to create an evening of its own genre: A Night Of Grief And Mystery.
Stephen is a renowned author, wordsmith, and culture worker, best known for the film Griefwalker and his book Die Wise: A Manifesto For Sanity and Soul. He received a masters in theology from Harvard and later a masters in social work, then went on to work as the head of the palliative care department at University of Toronto Hospital. It was through his time at the deathbeds of over 1,000 people that Stephen came to understand, firsthand, the grief illiteracy, community vacuum, and fear of death that abounds in our culture.
The stories told travel much terrain. Some are the old stories. The stories that all humans once knew, and the stories we are in much need of remembering now: What it means to actually belong to a place. What it means to belong to a village. How belonging and wisdom are skills, not givens. How each generation has its particular spiritwork that it must attend, that we not pass the buck to those who come after us.
Come join.
