What is the nature of consciousness? This question has been with humanity since ancient times as many philosophical, spiritual, and religious traditions will attest. It has also become one of the most hotly contested issues surrounding the modern science of psychology. Thisforum will look at well-substantiated research traditions within western psychology that defy current mainstream assumptions regarding the character and possibilities of consciousness. It will include a brief overview of studies documenting pre-cognition, prophetic dreams and visions, mystical insights, adolescent genius, intuitional breakthroughs in both math and science, past-life recollections and near death experiences. We will also review some of the leading paradigms and theorists of an emerging New Psychology which synthesize modern science, existential experience and ancient philosophy. This shift of underlying assumptions accommodates rather than denies what are now considered mere “parapsychological anomalies”, suggests new models of radical healing, and encourages a sustainable ethos of human interdependence and unity.

There is no need to register to attend in person. Masks are optional in Concord Hall.
The program will be webcast live on the IWC YouTube Channel at 2:00 pm: https://www.youtube.com/c/iwcinsantabarbara
The program will also be recorded and posted to the same YouTube Channel for future viewing.
