Photo realist artist Connie Jenkins records the passing of the seasons with 12 oil paintings each featuring California native flowers that bloom during a specific month, plus large painting (60” x 27”) “Fire-Followers” painted after the Woolsey Fire (2018). “Thirteen Moons: A Book of Hours” is on view in Santa Barbara Botanic Garden’s Pritzlaff Conservation Center Gallery through November 27.

Jenkins has exhibited her work in Southern California, across the United States, and in Japan over the past 50 years. She has taught drawing and painting at several Southern California institutions including the University of Southern California, California State Long Beach, and multiple colleges located in Santa Monica, Ventura, and Claremont. Jenkins lives and works at her home at the west end of the Santa Monica Mountains.

Now retired from teaching, she works full-time as an artist and enjoys volunteering for habitat restoration on the Channel Islands and tending to the restoration of her own property which was burned through during the Woolsey Fire of 2018.
