After two summers of severely scaled-back or canceled events, Old Spanish Days Fiesta returned in full force in 2022, with a renewed spirit and a brand-new parade route that drew thousands along Cabrillo Boulevard for Friday’s El Desfile Historico (Historical Parade) and Saturday’s El Desfile de los Niños (Children’s Parade). Here we share veteran Fiesta photographer Fritz Olenberger’s photos from those parades, along with highlights from the week’s festivities, including La Fiesta Pequeña, Las Noches de Ronda, Celebración de los Dignatarios, the Fiesta Stock Horse Show & Rodeo, and El Mercado De la Guerra and El Mercado del Norte.
