The 2022 annual Santa Barbara National Horse Show to be held at the Earl Warren Showgrounds from the morning of Wednesday, July 6th beginning at 9am and running through the afternoon of Saturday, July 9th. Events are scheduled for mornings beginning at 9am and again in the afternoons beginning at 1pm. Evening events will be held on Thursday and Friday beginning at 6pm.
If of special interest, Championship and Best of Show events will be held throughout the afternoon of Saturday the 9th. Admission is FREE and there are competitions for both youth and adult riders which should appeal to families. Breeds that will be represented throughout the weekend are Saddlebreds, Morgans, Hackney Ponies, Iberians Horses, Baroque Horses, Tennessee Walkers, Rocky Mountain Horses, Welsh Ponies and Welsh Cobs, and Moorland Ponies.
It is also hoped that coverage of this event might also include the efforts to renovate the Earl Warren Equine Center which has proved critical as a refuge for many types of animals in addition to horses, during the multiple fire evacuations our County has had over the years all the way up to 2022!!
When private developers sought to purchase this property, private citizens stepped up with some initial funding to save and begin the renovation of this “tired” facility. Progress had been made in this regard but with more yet to be done. What a gift to the community and hopefully other donors large and small will step forward to help the cause!!
