Join us for Workshop #1 of our new “All-Hands-On” Regenerative Land Stewardship Program on July 10th!
WITH GUEST FACILITATOR DR. DAVID WHITE OF THE OJAI CENTER FOR REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE
This hands-on workshop will introduce you to compost production, nutrient cycling and how it nests into the larger system of regenerative agriculture. Spaces are limited!
When: 9am – 4pm on Saturday, July 10th Location: Summerland Flagship Farm Cost: Sliding Scale $150 – $225 * Delicious Lunch is included! All Instruction is outdoors.
Why is nutrient cycling crucial? The key to soil fertility lies in the organic or humus content of soils. Compost is rich with organic matter and beneficial soil organisms that improve the health and structure of the soil, store water, and sequester C02 from the atmosphere.
Take a deep dive with guest facilitator Dr. David White and the WBLT team into the world of compost and its vital role in plant health, soil fertility, water holding capacity, and carbon sequestration. Learn what source materials can be utilized for your compost, the different processes to create it, and the variety of ways it can be applied to your landscape to create a thriving production system.
Get Hands-on! We will be building compost systems, analyzing soil microbiology, making compost teas, and more. You will leave this course ready to set up nutrient cycling systems of your own with a foundational understanding of what type of compost to apply where and when.
