Art Meets Science – Block Printing Botanicals
Join Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History Maximus Gallery Curator Linda Miller as she gives a sneak peek into the summer exhibit, A Medicine to the Mind, which traces the four-hundred-year-old history of illustrated gardening catalogs. Learn about Tulipmania, the craze for tulips in seventeenth-century Holland. Then follow along with artist Hilary George to learn how to block print your own botanical print.
In each class in the Art Meets Science series, we brush up on some cool science and then introduce new art media and techniques with a fun interactive workshop. Expand your art skills and science knowledge from the comfort of your own home. Pick up your supplies at the Museum or have them shipped locally.
