Over the past 2 years, Team Juana has continued to work to return Mrs. Juana Flores to her Goleta home. The federal government ordered her deported effective April 2, 2019. There is an application pending before the Department of Homeland Security to reinstate Mrs. Flores humanitarian parole status and allow her to return home now.
Congressman Salud Carbajal has re-introduced the Protect Patriot Parents Act. This bill would allow the manifest injustice of Mrs. Flores’s deportation to be rectified and grant her the status to return to her 30-year home in Goleta.
Her family and her community cannot wait until the legislative enactment process wends its way through Congress. We are asking the Department of Homeland Security to allow Mrs. Flores to return home now. The Department has the discretion to do so. It can reunite Mrs. Flores with her 10 children and 18 grandchildren now. One of those grandchildren is the 2-month old daughter of U.S. Air Force Staff Sergeant Caesar Flores. He is Mrs. Flores’ son, who deployed for overseas duty last month. He left his wife and daughter at the family home in Goleta when he went to serve and protect our country. He and the entire family need Mrs. Flores home to raise and protect this child.
Elected and community leaders, family members and supporters will hold a Vigil Saturday, April 3 at 11:00am at De La Guerra Plaza. Attendees must wear masks and abide by social distancing requirements.
