Amy (Reichardt) Fosnight
Amy Lynn Fosnight passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on November 12, 2020, from complications of cancer and pneumonia. She was born May 30, 1970 and raised in Rohnert Park California. She graduated from Rancho Cotate High School in 1988. She married the love of her life and best friend Scott Fosnight in 1991. They met playing volleyball in the Rohnert Park open gym, later saying she always wanted to be on the team that Scott was on. She was the daughter of John and Barbara Reichardt, the sister of Philip (Krisztina) Reichardt, the Mother of Joshua Scott Fosnight. Step Mother of Bea Fosnight, Seasyn McDowell and Shawna Wittliff. Grandmother of Taiven, Madelyn, Skye, Sawyer and Grayson. The family moved to Santa Barbara where Amy worked for the Goleta Union School District. First as a yard duty and crossing guard and then as a special needs aid in several schools in the district. She had a way of connecting with the children she worked with that couldn’t be taught from a book and had a positive impact on many children that she worked with at school or tutored at home. One of her proudest accomplishments was getting the flashing lights installed in front of Foothill School on Cathedral Oaks. It was a dangerous situation and she would not let it go until they were installed so she could safely walk Joshua to school. Amy was a people person, a friend to everyone she met. She loved to travel with Scott and Joshua in their RV, going all over the United States. She loved her dogs and her cat who by the way traveled with them everywhere they went in the RV. Amy was an avid reader belonging to several book clubs. Before COVID she loved to do swim aerobics at the YMCA with her “sassy girls”. There will be a celebration of her life in the Santa Barbara area as well as one in Sonoma County when the COVID pandemic is no more. When this happens, we will do our best to get the word out to all those who knew and cared for Amy.
