Judith Anne (Hawthorne) Crawford
Celebration of Life
Judy was born in Elgin, IL where she spent most of her life. After graduating Elgin High School in 1962 she was accepted at Loyola University into the Nursing Program. Judy put her schooling on hold and in July of 1962 she married Joseph Michael (Mike) Crawford. They had three children, Lynn Rapp, Beverly Grindel, and Michael Crawford. Judy worked various secretarial positions in the private sector, as well as for the Illinois School District; U-46. She never forgot her goal of becoming a nurse. Judy graduated with high honors from the LPN Program at Elgin Community College in 1992. Judy continued her education in nursing and in 1996 she received her Bachelors of Science degree from NIU, followed by graduate coursework in the Managed Care Program at Benedictine University.
After finishing her education, Judy worked for Sherman Hospital. In 2006 Judy moved to Santa Barbara where she had an illustrious career working for Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital.
While living in Santa Barbara Judy enjoyed performing with the Santa Barbara Treble Clef Chorus. She participated in wine clubs, was an avid enthusiast for the Santa Barbara Film Festival, and enjoyed traveling. Judy was known for always being the friend someone could count on. Recently, Judy retired and began volunteering at the Ridley-Tree Cancer Center of Sansum Clinic.
Judy is survived by her three children, five grandchildren: Jason & Jake Lieser, Brett Grindel, Matt & Amanda Crawford, as well as her four great-grandchildren: Grace & Anna Lieser, Jackson Crawford and Cayden Larson.
