Frank G. Martinez
March 9, 1920 – November 16, 2010
Frank G. Martinez died Tuesday, November 16, 2010 after a brief illness at the Cottage Hospital, Santa Barbara, California.
Frank is survived by his wife of sixty four years, Helen M. Martinez of Santa Barbara; daughter Lida F.
Martinez of Santa Barbara, sons Zachary Martinez and his wife Cathy of Goleta, and Frank C. Martinez and his wife Janina of Hilo, Hawaii. He was pre-deceased by his son William E. Martinez.
He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and dog Mocha.
He is also survived by his sister Connie Rivero; brothers John G. Martinez and Fred Martinez; and many nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by sisters Marie Hernandez, Patsy Coulsen and Rosie Madrigal.
He was born in Santa Barbara, graduated from the local schools; was in the U.S. Army Air Forces as a medic from January 1942 through October 1945 in the South Pacific during WWII, received the Medal for Meritorious Service, a member of the Ground Hogs, Shell Backs, Amvets National Sad Sacks Post 3 and American Legion Post 49.
After returning back to Santa Barbara he worked for McNall’s Building Supplies for forty years delivering concrete throughout the tri-counties and retired as a TeamStar. During the twenty-five years of retirement Frank and his wife Helen traveled the States and Canada in their RV.
Frank’s biggest joy was having the entire family and friends together for all occasions.
We all loved him and will miss him dearly!
