Monty Peters
Monty Peters passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday the 23rd June from Mesothelioma after an eight month struggle, which he faced with the utmost courage and dignity. Monty was born in 1928 in London, England the eldest son of Doris and William Peters. He attended London University and gained a BSc in Chemistry.
After working in various industries he started work with his brothers, Lawrence and Basil, eventually moving to California where he became manager of contracts for the Bardex Corporation where he remained for more than thirty years until his death. He was recognized world wide for his work in the Petro-Chemical Industry. He was a valued mentor and friend to many and was always eager to help others. Monty’s enthusiasm for life made him stand out from the crowd and those who knew him will never forget his easygoing manner, ready smile and all those “Montyisms”.
He is survived by Barrie, his beloved wife of twenty-nine years, their devoted son Nicholas and his brothers Lawrence and Martin who both gave him and his family much appreciated support. A third brother, Basil predeceased him.
A gathering of family, friends and colleagues to celebrate Monty’s life is being held on Monday 7th July at Cabrillo Recreation Center, 1118 E. Cabrillo Boulevard, Santa Barbara, 93103, from 2.00 pm to 4.30 pm. Light refreshments will be provided and anyone who knew and loved Monty is welcome to attend and say a few words to share their memories of him, if they wish to do so.
