Patricia “Pat” Lou Gallagher

Our loving mother and grandmother passes away peacefully, Friday July 10, 2009 after a lengthy illness. Patsy Lou “Pat” Ryan Gallagher was born May 2, 1930 in Santa Barbara, Ca. The daughter of the late Jack and Margaret Ryan, she graduated from Santa Barbara High School.

A lifelong homemaker, she was passionate about sewing, decorating and entertaining guests. Many friends were the recipients of her homemade crafts, English toffee or plum jam. Friend to all, Pat always had an open place at her table for a new friend.

Pat was a notably skilled bridge player and enjoyed playing cards of all types. Always fit and athletic, she water and snow skied into her 70’s. Along with husband Barney, the love of her life, they enjoyed traveling with the Elks Caravaneers RV group. Even after traveling to world destinations, they were most partial to the times they shared in Washington and Hawaii.

Predeceased by beloved husband Bernard “Barney” Gallagher, her parents, brother Leland Ryan, Pat is survived by daughter Shelley Zadik and husband Marc; son Allen Gallagher and wife Christie; cherished grandchildren Heather Gallagher, Marc Gallagher and Evan Zadik; brother Donald Ryan (Barbara);sisters Gloria Kozlowski and Sylvia Hartman (Jeff).

The family wishes to thank Pat’s devoted caregivers, nurses and personnel at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care. A heartwarming thank you to Maria Cardenas CNA. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Santa Barbara Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care, 222 E. Cannon Perdido Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101, Alzheimer Association 1528 Chapala Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101, or your favorite charity. A celebration of Life will be July 16, 2009, 4pm at Chase Palm Park, 236 E. Cabrillo St. Santa Barbara

A private burial ceremony will be held at Santa Barbara Cemetery.
