Matthew Clarke (Matt Ratt) Davis
Matt Davis, age 44, died suddenly on August 15, 2009. Born to Bruce and Joy Davis in Santa Barbara, CA, on December 19, 1964, Matt attended local Santa Barbara schools.
Matt’s large family of friends include the punk music world, the local NA and AA families, and a smaller group of spiritually conscious friends. Matt will be remembered as one who lived life at full throttle; not only as “Matt Ratt” the musician/singer/songwriter, and founder of the influential 80’s punk band, Rat Pack (that remained active up until the time of his death), but also as a loyal friend, father, confidant and most recently, loving husband.
Along with his jet black hair, Matt’s quick wit and constant joking were his trademark. His ability to always find something positive in any situation he found himself in was one of his foremost qualities. His charisma and outgoing nature drew people towards him and as one of Santa Barbara’s first punk rockers, he introduced many people to the music that they still love today. Matt was never one to turn away a friend in need and was always there to help in whatever way he could. This generosity was displayed time and time again in countless different ways.
Matt is predeceased by his parents and is survived by his wife, Kelly Collier; daughter, Tessa Beck; brother, Jeff Davis and family; sister, Amanda Torresani and family; aunts, uncle and numerous cousins.
Please join us in a celebration of Matt’s life, Sunday August 30th at 1pm, in Oak Park (main area near playground), Santa Barbara, CA. We encourage you to bring comfort food, your stories, and pictures to share with Matt’s family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a contribution to the Matthew C.
