Scholar-Athlete of the Year
Andrew Fay Named S.B. High’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year
Santa Barbara High basketball player Andrew Fay holds a 4.95 average. Now that number may not be impressive in terms of scoring on the court, but when it comes to getting it done in the classroom, Fay’s grade point average is through the roof. We’re talking Kobe Bryant and LeBron James court numbers.
Fay was honored as Santa Barbara High’s Scholar Athlete of the Year at Monday’s Athletic Round Table press luncheon.
Fay has the distinction of being the No. 1 student in the senior class of 538 students at SBHS. He’s earned the impressive GPA with a class load that includes Advanced Placement physics, English literature, calculus, and government. He also takes a marketing course at City College.
Fay’s stellar academic work has earned him the honor of AP Scholar with Distinction. He is a member of the National Honor Society and California Scholarship Federation and is a National Merit Commencement Student.
Fay was a junior starting guard on last year’s Dons basketball team that won the Channel League with a 12-0 record and advanced to the CIF Southern Section 3A semifinals and the second round of the CIF State Tournament.
