7.1 Magnitude Earthquake in Japan

Nearly a month after a devastating earthquake struck northern Japan, a magnitude 7.1 quake struck off the coast of Miyagi prefecture at 11:32 p.m. local time. Last month’s tsunami was a 9.0-magnitude.
A tsunami warning was issued for a wave of up to six feet in the coastal areas of Japan, but thusfar there have been no reports of any wave.
There is NO tsunami warning or advisory at this time to Hawaii or the California coast, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. “Based on all available data a destructive, Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected and there is no tsunami threat to Hawaii.”
