Fly aboard a supersonic rocket as it blasts off from Vandenberg Air Force Base into the wild blue yonder in this mind-blowing YouTube video. The Atlas V rocket successfully delivered the WorldView-4 satellite into orbit on November 11, where it will capture high-resolution images of as many as 262,550 square miles of the Earth’s surface — about the size of Texas — on a daily basis.
In the video, you can watch as the rocket hurtles more than 350 miles into the stratosphere before jettisoning its first stage booster then gently detaching its nose cone carrying the satellite. From there, the WorldView-4 slowly floats away as Earth spins heavily underneath.
