Week in Sports: Prep Baseball Season Ending

It’s the last week of regular-season sports in the 2008-09 high school year. Several remaining games have CIF playoff implications, including a pair of baseball games between Dos Pueblos and Santa Barbara High.

The boys volleyball CIF playoffs are already set. Five local schools will play opening-night matches on Friday. The Santa Barbara Dons, third-seeded in Division I, will host Lakewood, and Dos Pueblos will be home against Palos Verdes. The other three teams San Marcos (Div. I), Bishop Diego (Div. III) and Laguna Blanca (Div. V) will travel.

Carpinteria High will stage the CIF Division IV track & field prelims on Saturday. The CIF team golf championships will take place Thursday at Rancho San Marcos.
