NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD
For you Halloween freaks and art appreciators out there, this year’s Noche de los Muertos exhibit at Muddy Waters Cafe (508 E. Haley St.) kicks off Saturday, October 18, with a reception featuring music from DJ Magneto. The annual show, curated by Sheryl Schroeder, will feature themed works from artists in L.A., Portland, San Francisco, and S.B.

The Santa Barbara-based Dancing Drum company recently received a impressive grant from the Zildjian Family Opportunity Fund. The award will be used to help bring arts programs, including a Dancing Drum artist-in-residency workshop, back to schools in New Orleans’ Lower 9th Ward affected by Hurricane Katrina. Hearts of Fire, an Ojai-based arts non-profit working with and for homeless peoples, will hold a reception for their newest exhibit at the Center of the Heart Church of Religious Science/Center for Spiritual Living (487 N.
