Judging the Joneses
A week after Judge Frank Ochoa sentenced to prison confessed
gunman Philip Jones and his daughter Kelee Davidson for their roles
in the murder of Jarrod Davidson, a motion was filed to have Ochoa
disqualified from judging the third suspect in the case, Jones’s
wife Malinda. Defense attorney Robert Landheer – who filed the
motion last Friday – cites statements made by the judge during the
closing moments of last week’s sentencing as evidence of Ochoa’s
“prejudice” against his client. The matter will likely be
considered at a hearing scheduled for later this week. In related
news, the family of Jarrod Davidson filed a $5 million wrongful
death suit against the Jones family recently, hoping to recoup
expenses for burial, legal fees, unspecified punitive damages, and
to help pay for the education and upbringing of Jarrod and Kelee’s
young daughter.
