According to SBPD spokesperson Sgt. Riley Harwood, 24-year-old David Aviles stabbed the 31-year-old victim multiple times in the front yard of their residence in the 200 block of West De La Guerra Street. The victim, who hasn’t been publicly identified, then stumbled to the 800 block of Bath Street where he knocked on a nearby door for help.

The victim was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, and remains under care. He is expected to survive, said Harwood.

On November 1 at around 12:15 p.m., SBPD detectives arrested Aviles as he left his home. “Investigators do not believe this is a gang incident,” said Harwood in a prepared statement. “This investigation is still ongoing and additional details are being withheld.”

Aviles has been charged with attempted murder and his bail is set at $500,000.
