Once every five years, the U.S Fish and Wildlife Service takes a look at endangered species to determine if their status is either better, worse, or the same. This year, that review is eyeing 34 species in California and Nevada, including the following 10 species of the tri-county region: Morro Bay Kangaroo rat, Santa Cruz island fox, San Miguel island fox, Santa Rosa island fox, Gaviota tarplant, island malacothrix, La Graciosa thistle, Lompoc Yerba Santa, Santa Cruz Island malacothrix, and Santa Cruz tarplant. Citizens who’d like to comment should email fw1vfwo5year@fws.gov by July 20, 2010.
