Wilderness Youth Project Turns 10
Birthday Party for Program that Connects Young Folks with Nature
These days it seems young folk spend more time indoors in front of computers than climbing trees or catching frogs. There is a nonprofit in town whose goal it is to get kids outdoors. For the past decade, the Wilderness Youth Project’s (WYP) mission has been to provide “confidence, health, and a life-long love of learning for young people and families through active outdoor experiences and mentoring,” according to its Web site. To celebrate its 10th birthday, WYP is throwing a party replete with live music, outdoor activities, and birthday cupcakes. The event is open to the public and takes place Sunday, October 4, from 11:10 a.m.-4:10 p.m. A presentation is at 1:10 p.m., with cupcakes at 2:10 p.m. Check it out at Skofield Park on Las Canoas Road. Tickets are $10 for adults and 10 cents for kids. Reserve your tickets in advance at wyp.org/tenth. Call 964-8096 for more information.
