No Current Fires in Santa Barbara County
Suspicious Smoke Has Drifted from Ventura Blaze, Officials Note
Smoke hovering over Camino Cielo, between Highway 154 and Refugio Road, is not coming from any fire in the county but instead is from the fire burning in the hills east of Ventura. This was noted by County Fire spokesperson Capt. Dave Sadecki, possibly to calm the nerves of the wildfire-phobic Santa Barbara County residents who have been spotting smoke in the sky and fearing the worst.
The smoke is also unrelated to Sunday’s eight-acre blaze in Los Padres National Forest, which members of a US Forest Service fire crew successfully extinguished within hours of it igniting. the San Marcos Volunteer Fire Department was also on hand to offer assistance.
