According to SYVHA Executive Director Mary Harris, “The One More Night Expo is the opportunity for everyone to discover all the things to see and do here in the Santa Ynez Valley at night; and to encourage our hotel guests to stay one more night. So often visitors ask—what is there to do around here at night? This expo will provide the answers and help our area celebrate National Travel & Tourism Week.”

Expo exhibitors include (alphabetically, as of this date, additional anticipated): Avant Tapas & Wine, Chumash Casino Resort, Firestone Vineyard Free Vineyard Concert Series, Los Alamos 3rd Saturday Stroll and Casa Dumetz Wines; PCPA Theaterfest; Ranch & Reata Roadhouse, Randy’s Taproom, Solvang Festival Theater, Solvang 3rd Wednesday, Solvang/Buellton Parks & Recreation Movies in the Park, Vineyard House Restaurant Jazz on the Deck and Wandering Dog Wine Bar. Expo admission is free and live entertainment by pianist/singer Seth Shomes, complimentary refreshments and door prizes will be offered.

Since 1984, the first full week of May is annually recognized as National Travel & Tourism Week by the US Travel Association (http://www.ustravel.org).

According to USTA, travel and tourism is one of America’s largest industries:

– Generated $2.0 trillion in economic output, with $855.4 billion spent directly by domestic and international travelers that spurred an additional $1.1 trillion in other industries.

– Directly generated $129 billion in tax revenue for local, state and federal governments.

– Each U.S. household would pay $1,060 more in taxes without the tax revenue generated by the travel and tourism industry.

– Direct spending by resident and international travelers in the U.S. averaged $2.3 billion a day, $97.6 million an hour, $1.6 million a minute and $27,125 a second.

Travel and tourism is one of America’s largest employers

– Supported 14.6 million jobs, including 7.7 million directly in the travel industry and 6.9 million in other industries.

– 1 out of every 8 jobs in the U.S. depends on travel and tourism.

– Generated $200.9 billion in payroll for those employed directly in U.S. travel.
