First they came for the Mexicans, and I did not speak out –

Because I was not a Mexican.

Then they came for the Muslims, and I did not speak out –

Because I was not a Muslim

Then they came for the poor and the sick, and I did not speak out –

Because I was neither poor nor sick.

Then they came for the young women, and I did not speak out

Because I was not a young woman.

Then they came for me –

And there was no one left to speak for me.
