Carp Council Opposes Measure M
The Carpinteria City Council voted 3-2 to oppose Measure M, the maintenance ordinance to be put before voters on 6/3 that critics have said would divert $18 million-$44 million of the county budget away from public safety and social services to fund the upkeep of county-owned roads, buildings, and parks. No other cities have taken a formal stance against the measure, but councilmembers from other cities have said the measure wouldn’t benefit city residents but could mean cuts to services that benefit all county residents.
