Startup America Gains Support from South Coast Business Forum
Gideon Rubin of Local Market Launch and Kyle Ashby of Kaldera Marketing presented the organization to the South Coast Business Forum to gain support for ongoing initiatives related to Startup America and supporting entrepreneurial development on the Central Coast.
“It’s really inspiring to see so many of our local community, government, and business leaders with such a strong interest in supporting our entrepreneurial community,” said Gideon Rubin, CMO of Local Market Launch. “It is a testament that the initiative has drawn more than $1 billion worth of commitments so far from dozens of companies and other partners to sustain the growth of startups. Having the support of an organization such as the South Coast Business Forum will help fuel our community’s growth by boosting businesses and jobs.”
Startup CA is the 24th region to join the Startup America Partnership. It combines a statewide focus on enhancing the connections between the local California ecosystems to other Startup America regions across the country, as well as a local focus on helping high growth startups in all communities across California.
The Startup Santa Barbara chapter was facilitated by Local Market Launch’s Gideon Rubin, Jonathan DeLong, and Kyle Ashby. All are serial entrepreneurs with a passion for uniting businesses with the resources to succeed and young companies to grow. Startup Santa Barbara provides easier access for businesses to find startup firms that can provide solutions to their problems through an information network.
In addition, Michael Holliday of the South Coast Business Forum plans to develop a campaign called “Start It in Santa Barbara,” a regional outreach effort for the South Coast to promote sustainable economic development while maintaining the community’s environmental values.
“Plans are still in the early formative stages with our Start It in Santa Barbara program 2012,” Holliday said. “The program is envisioned to be a two to three day locally produced effort to promote the best of the South Coast Region Business with a focus on our communities leading educational, technology, and creative industries with a real emphasis on startup ventures.”
Esteemed Santa Barbara Mayor Helene Schneider, a forum member summarizes it best: “Startup America’s recognition and support of Startup Santa Barbara will help organize and energize our already thriving startup and technology communities.”
