County officials are negotiating with the Chumash Casino, working on a conditional withdrawal of a protest letter it filed with the Department of Alcohol Beverage Control last year against the casino’s application for an expansion of its liquor license. The county filed the protest against the license citing increased law enforcement issues at the casino. The county has twice continued a Board of Supervisors agenda item as officials speak with the Chumash, who just announced a donation of $140,000 to various nonprofits throughout the county. The license would allow the casino to serve alcohol outside of just its restaurants, though not on the gaming floor.
